Going to a wedding

Caden & I went to a wedding last night. It was a friend from work - Angela. Getting ready for something by myself and getting Caden ready was definitely a process. We needed to leave the house by 4pm. So I wanted Caden to take a nap so he wasn't crabby at the wedding. I tried to put him down starting at 1pm, and gave up at 2:30pm. He did not want a nap. After that, I just put him in the peanut shell and got myself ready. By 3:30pm we were both ready and I put him in the car seat. At that point, Caden went right to sleep. So he slept in his carseat until 4:40pm when we got to the wedding. After that he was pretty happy throughout the evening. He even slept for an hour during the reception.

Of course there were some outbursts, and always at the most appropriate times (during the vows and during the toasts). That's OK, I kept him calm and got his diaper changed immediately after the ceremony and toasts.
This is Caden ready for the wedding. It doesn't show off his outfit very well since I had to prop him up, but he looked very cute.
As you can see, Angela was a beautiful bride. Her little boy is 4 weeks younger than Caden, but he was asleep so he couldn't be in the picture.
This is pretty much how Caden and I spent the wedding. Him in the peanut shell checking things out. He spent a lot of time sucking on his hand too. that is his new favorite chew toy, his hand.

Shopping at Costco

Caden & I went to Costco yesterday to stock up on some things. We had a list and stuck to it pretty well. As you can see, my car is pretty full. Between waters, paper towels and toilet paper, the car and cart filled up pretty quickly. When I got home I realized that I should take a picture so Justin could see how full the car got.
I guess when the family gets bigger someday, we will need a bigger car. I thought for sure when I bought the Escape 3 years ago, it would work out for the long haul.

Don't worry Jeannette, even though we do go to Costco a lot, we don't always buy this much stuff. :)

The best purchase yesterday was the new lightbulbs. I bought 2 packs of the energy saver lightbulbs and the power company had a rebate on them, so I got 8 light bulbs for $14.00. Not a huge bargain, but I think we will see it on our power bill. Anything we can do to conserve power down here in the summer (and year round) is a good plan. Our power bill our first summer went from $85 in March to $212 in July. That was a shocker when we got that in the mail.

He is getting bigger!

As you can see from these pics, Caden is definitely getting bigger. His face is filling out and his legs are getting chubby. He is wearing his other gap pajamas. These ones were on clearance an I bought them when I was pregnant. I wasn't sure when he would fit into them. Turns out they fit now.
This is a picture of his little soxs with labels. Like I said, everything he wears to daycare has to be labeled, so we have them on his socks, his clothes, and even his bibs. So far, we haven't had anything not come back.

This is Caden ready for daycare. On Tuesday, Justin and I both had to work in the morning, so we both got up and were running around the house getting everyone ready. It is so hot now that pants are out of the question. He will be wearing shorts from now until October, except when we go on vacation, then he can wear pants.

Evenflo products

Our family has become very familiar with the evenflo products out on the market. Whenever we are shopping for something that Caden needs, we usually end up with an evenflo. For some reason they are always the best price of all the products that look the same. So far, we have the travel system (carseat & stroller), pack & play, infant swing, high chair and breast pump. All have done well for us, but it turns out, the car seat was part of the recall. That's OK, we just went on the website and signed up for the fix.

When the fix arrived, we could not get the part changed out. This made us decide that our carseat is not one of the ones that will just break apart if we cannot break it apart to fix it.

After that, the breast pump motor started to give up the ghost about every 3rd time I would pump at work. It basically sounded like it would stop working at any moment. I decided I would give evenflo a call to tell them the problem, and see if there was a fix they could send me for that. Well, it's a good thing I called. The customer service person said that the pump should not do that at all. She decided to send me a whole new pump motor - which is basically a new pump complete with bag. I just have to keep my power cord and pump parts from the bad pump.

So the moral of the story is: evenflo products may not be the top of the line, but they are good value for the money, and if there is a problem, they will fix it.

New stuff for Caden

Caden is posing for you in his new PJ's - The rocket ships. They are one of my super sweet garage sale purchases for 50 cents. They are from the Baby Gap. I love them because they are 2 piece and don't have feet, which means they will fit his body, but we don't have to worry about the big feet.

These are the pictures of Caden in his new high chair. He does look a bit crazed in one of them, but he really likes the high chair. We put him in it while we ate dinner and he just sat and babbled the whole time.

Justin was very excited that Caden finally fits into a camouflouge onesie. This is a big step for this little boy! 3-6 month size, here we come!

We are getting him used to the high chair, and then after his 4 month check-up, we are hoping that the doctor gives us the thumbs up for Rice Cereal. Keep your fingers crossed, that appointment is the 1st week of June.

It's a smile!

We got a smile as you can see! Justin was able to make him smile long enough for a picture. What a fun saturday morning! We have to keep him in bibs now since he drools a lot. we don't think he's teething since he is only 3 months, but the drool just goes everywhere. Don't worry grandma, noni & nana, your pictures are in the mail! or will be soon. :)

Part of our fun with the bib is it gets turned around on him, so sometimes he looks a little like superman. This is superman having tummy time below.

Lets roll!

Caden is on the verge of rolling over. He is getting bigger every day. He cannot sit up on his own, but he is doing better with the tummy time. His legs are strong so he can push himself in a circle if he wants.
This is a happy baby enjoying some tummy time. What a cutie pie!

Don't adjust your screen, he just rolled sideways. This doesn't count for rolling over because he was propped on the boppy pillow.

That marked the end of tummy time for him on Friday.

Triple Digits!

So it is officially hot here. Today it was 101 degrees out. That means, it's too hot to run errands or anything between 10am and 7pm. This is our reverse winter when we just stay inside and sit by the AC.

It's been an exciting week for us. I ran into a fellow Cougar picking up his daughter at daycare. She is in the same room as Caden. Her name is Reis. It turns out, they live down the street from us. Small world!

Justin was off today and stayed home with Caden today. He's not sick, but if we are going to be home, we don't send him to day care. Caden kept Justin busy today. He went through 2 baths and 3 outfit changes. When I got home, we went to go meet another couple for dinner. Their son Joey Jr is a month younger than Caden, but now weighs more than Caden. Caden's weigh in on Wednesday was 11 pounds even. Joey Jr's weigh in (on Wednesday at the same time at our same pediatrician) was 11 pounds 6 ounces.

As yoy can see, Caden is getting bigger. He just isn't a giant.

Caden's new trick is he can pull your hair. Once he grabs on, he doesn't let go. It makes it hard to put him down when he has a good hold.

Cinco De Mayo

My friend Sara came back to Phoenix for the weekend for Cinco de Mayo and to see everyone. We went to a Cinco de Mayo party at our friends Mel & James' house. Caden actually slept in his car seat for the first few hours and then woke up. It was fun to get out of the house and be social again.

I put Caden in his jammies before we left so that when he fell asleep on the ride home, it wouldn't be so bad to put him right to bed. He also has a wrist rattle on in this picture. We decided that they are more fun for the adults to watch, then for him to shake his arm.

Feeling Better

So Caden has been feeling a lot better now. It turns out there was not an ear infection, we were just supposed to watch him to see any signs of one developing. Here are some pics of him from this week. He is sitting in the Bumbo chair. It's pretty nice that he is able to sit up in that.

I guess we need to work on getting the picture in focus.....

2 month picture

This is Caden's picture at 2 month's. What a cute baby! This was from his photo shoot with my sister's little boy when we went to Spokane. If you go on Charlie's page you can see a picture of the cousins.
Justin took Caden to the doctor today for the pink eye follow up. The pink eye is clear, but now he has an ear infection..... The good news is he is now 10 pounds 10 ounces. For anyone that didn't know, that is how much his Uncle Pete weighed at birth. I am not sure when Charlie reached that milestone, but I think it was around the same time.
